| Well. For some reason, the topic always comes up in music forums of people's favorite musical artists. So. You guys started talking about that in the other thread and I felt that it was such a huge potential discussion I had to start another topic on it. But here are my general ideas, (plus it really has not much to do w/ the other thread).
My favorite artists have changed a lot over the years. But consistantly, my favorite artists have shared some traits. - individuality (uniqueness)
playability (ease of listening, not too intense) catchiness (hooky riffs, outstanding or alternative songs)
So heres my list of artists (sorta) for this month, (a little ordered):
1)Beatles--------------------- 6)Dylan 2)Zeppelin-------------------- 7)White Stripes 3)BB King--------------------- 8)The Who 4)Chuck Berry--------------- 9)Clapton 5)Marvin gaye--------------- 10)Either Jeff Beck or U2 cant decide right now
Umm if you guys think im being mAinstream, Im not. No rolling Stones, no Beach Boys, no Hendrix, trust me I'm not just following the crowd. Contemporaries I like are:
1) Dreamtheater 2) Tool 3) The Smashing Pumpkins 4) Black Tide (for you metalheads... *grumble*...) 5) RHCP
OK I said my share so how 'bout you guys?

| I have absolutely no idea what my favorite artist is. However, at the moment, I'm really into AILD (sorry Joe) but really into slipknot and korn as well. thats the heavier stuff. I'm also making some lighter stuff (yes, making as in creating) which is wayyyyy more fun than creating heavy stuff. But idk, music isn't preference to me, its just all soooo good. | |

| Korn was my introduction to heavy metal, my brother got me freak on a leash for my b-day a few years back. From there I browsed around and found Slayer, Slipknot, Tool, Avenge Sevenfold and a few lesser artist. Then Christian showed me AILD and I was blown away. That lead me to find Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, As Blood Runs Black, Obituary, At the Gates and of course Arch Enemy. And somewhere in there I listened to Rammstein, SOAD, Linken Park, and some weird Al. Thats my music liking history I guess. | |

| hmm. It seems your tastes havent changed too much simnce last timeI was aware, and RJA is pretty good. And i still sometimes listen to all thatr other stuff you mentioned in that second category, (Slipknot, System, etc.) I dont really care much for the other stuff though. Has anyone heard Disturbed's 'Perfect Insanity' yet? 'tis cool. | |

| Although I have to say I like 'Inside the Fire' better. THIS NEW ALBUM WILL BE SIKK! "Indestructible" is a cool title. Hmm Disturbed is about as heavy as it gets for me though. So Val, besides like evil sreaming, etc. (you know what I mean) what else do you like to listen to? (Everyone else too if you want) | |

| I do too, inside the fire is very intense. I like to listen to pretty much anything else really, although on my own I would only listen to the "screaming" music type. | |

| uhhh for me its a strange little mix on one side I like the beatles, Led Zeppelin, and AC/DC. on the other I kinda like Slipknot, and All that Remains. (mind you this is not all the music I like. I like many more artists they are just not included) sometimes I just feel confused... Sometimes I listen to hard stuff, and sometimes lighter stuff and it doesnt even go with how I feel just some days I like a certain type of music. Anyone have any thoughts? | |

| I know what you'r talking about Scott, I think it's a mood thing. Although I know some who can be content with listening to the same stuff all the time (Christain and I for example) and the people like my brother who listens to classical or really heavy stuff depending on his mood. | |

| Hmm thats a good question. I made some mix tapes a long time ago that I played based on my mood, (I know, what a nerd, right?). I dont really listen to them anymore, but if I made them again, this would be them:
Angry/Awake *Skyway Avenue- We The Kings (We The Kings)- Kinda calme me because of the meaning and mood *Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution- AC/DC, (Back in Black)- I would listen to this since it would make me feel like I was always right/ people who didn't like rock could just piss. *Stroll On- the Yardbirds- Jimmy Page solos make you calm. Has a depredding effect on me. *Shine on Crazy Diamond (any part)- Pink Floyd (Wish You Were Here)- AKA keep acting who you are and go crazy *Ball Of Confusion- The Temptations (Satan On My Side)- It tells me I dont know what I am doing and should just think for a bit. *Four Horsemen- Metallica (Kill 'Em All)- GRR! you get the idea. *New Slang- The Shins (Oh Inverted World)- People dont know what I want, etc. Makes me feel different/seperate *Renegades of Funk- RATM (Renegades)- Tells you to be a rebel and be a renegade, etc. *Atomic Punk- Van Halen (Van Halen)- ||See above|| *I Get It- Chevelle (Vena Sera)- Final Song, tells me that people should ignore me for now and i need to understand what theyre thinking.
Ill finish the reasons later, i wanna get the tracks down.
Contemplative/Love *Stop And Stare- OneRepublic (Dreaming Out Loud) *5:55- Charolotte Gainsbourg (5:55) *Summertime Blues- Blue Cheer (Vincebus Eruptum) *My Immortal- Evanescence (Fallen) *Eight Miles High- The Byrds (Greatest hits) *Oh Its So Quiet- Bjork (Post) *Around the World- RHCP (Californication) *Killing The Blues- Robert Plant+Allison Krauss (Raising Sand) (I love that!! i think they should get together) *Until The End Of The World- U2 (Achtung Baby) *Brown Eyed Girl- Van Morrison (Super Hits)
Drained *Its Not My Time- 3 doors Down (3 Doors Down) *Something in the Air- Thunderclap Newman (Flower Power) *Custard Pie- Led Zeppelin- Physical Graffiti *Viva La Vida- Coldplay (Viva La vida) (New Single! Sounds Cool...) *All Along the Watchtower- Hendrix (Experience Hendrix) *Rocket Man- Elton John (Greatest Hits) *Mr. Tambourine Man- Dylan (Greatest Hits) (Yes I like the dylan version better...) *And When I Die- Blood, Sweat & Tears (BST) *Satisfaction- Rolling Stones (Greatest Hits) *The Anthem- Good Charolotte (Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous)

| I can't pick a favorite music genre/artist/song. I don't think this is bragging, but I think I am the most open to music then all of you. Thats just a guess, but I'm pretty sure of it. I can literally switch genres instantly while playing or listening to music. Joe has witnessed that I am sure. I can't pick a favorite artist because I am constantly changing and rethinking about music. One day, excuse me, one moment I could have one favorite band or song, and the next it would be totally different. By the time I've finished writing this post, I have probably changed my favorite genre/artist/song a few times. | |

| WHAT?!?!?! I like all the music you've showed me Matt. What the HALL are you talking about? Yea country can suck my balls. Rap is pretty annoying and I can deal with it. I really truly don't know what your talking about Matt. I only really don't like country....I hate what they do with their voices! | |

| k guys here's my list for when im trying to get over someone. this first half is for when its hard to move on.
1. Everything Changes -- Staind 2. Broken -- Seether (withOUT amy lee, just my preference) 3. Blackbird -- The Beatles 4. Mr. Brightside -- The Killers 5. Outside -- Staind 6. Rise Above This -- Seether (although its about the singer's brother who died in a car crash) 7. When You Were Young -- The Killers
The next list is for when im angry at the girl, ie i was wronged or something VAL AND CHRISTIAN you would like this list better, if at all compared to the other list. ill star the ones you might like. big if, but oh well.
1. Monkey Wrench -- Foo Fighters (may i point out this is actually a "happy" song) 2. Pushing Me Away -- LiNkiN Park *( i know val likes linkin park, so ill star em all) 3. Attack -- 30 Seconds to Mars 4. From the Inside -- LiNkiN Park * 5. Mudshovel -- Staind *(christian u said before you liked this one in particular) 6. Faint -- LiNkiN Park * 7. Stupid Girl -- Cold * 8. Happy? -- Mudvayne * 9. The Kill -- 30 Seconds to Mars 10. F*ck it -- Seether (this song is NOT even good but its just rar)
k i have others i may post em later. joe take a look at the first list as well see if u like em. and jeff since you say u like everything, u as well. and both of youactually listen to like thirty seconds of the song on youtube, and skip around a bit so ur not just getting the bad parts. but if you start to like it, listen more.
my favorites on this one are happy, the kill, and monkey wrench from the second list; mr. brightside, everything changes and outside on the first list.

| Wow, does everything revolve around women or something? Both of Matt's feelings were about GIRLS! So thats whats on your mind, huh?! JK. But maybe you should stop thinking about girls for a little while. Idk, you're probably like "piss off jeff", but I'm just noticing lately you're attitude is becoming more harsh. No specific examples, but idk, thats just my suggestion. Anyways, MUSIC!!! Hmmmmm. I don't listen to playlists ever. I change mood every minute or so. I can literally go from Viva la Vida (Coldplay) to like Dig (Mudvayne) just by thinking to myself. I'll try to make some though.
Angry/RAR!/F*** everything list (Christian and Val will like this more):
Dig - Mudvayne Wait and Bleed - Slipknot Tirades of Truth - Devildriver Spit it Out - Bullet for my Valentine Becoming the Bull - Atreyu Within Destruction - As I Lay Dying Here to Stay - KoRn This Is The New Sh1t - Marilyn Manson Declaration - Trivium F*ck the System - System of a Down
Lighter stuff that I listen to when I'm sad:
Hide and Seek - Imogen Heap (aka the hmm what ya say song) Wanted Dead or Alive - Bon Jovi The Hand That Feeds - Nine Inch Nails (not a happy song, but it makes me happier) All Matt's first list Pain & Animal I Have Become - Three Days Grace Hey Jude - The Beatles Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden Fine Again - Seether Dreamer - Ozzy Osbourne The Whole "Room For Squares" Album by John Mayer Look What You've Done - Jet Better Together - Jack Johnson
I'll stop there. I could go on forever like this and waste the rest of my day and I gotta have dinner.

| man you only listen to hide and seek when you're happy???!?!?!?! I LISTEN TO IT EVERY SECOND!!!!
yahh the thing is i dont really have a mood for musics. I just listen to abunch of songs i think are good. LOL i can take pop way better than the rest of you(watching HSM 4 times in a week.) My dad likes to listen to country and POLKA so i listen to that 2 hours every time i go to my cabin. i used to be addicted to rap and techno(in fact it was all i listened to). ill listen to through struggle then viva la vida or the beatles or basically anything on my ipod it doesnt really matter.
Jeff you are not more open to music than anyone else... actually joe really doesnt like "the hard stuff" but still we are all pretty much equal in our tastes.
problem is i normally can't find a lot of good music unless u guys tell me about it.

| Are you looking for a fight scott? It sounds to me like you are. Anyways, the only music I don't really like is COUNTRY! HOLY &#&$%#($&@(%(@#&%$ I hate country. Otherwise, rap isn't all that bad, I just don't really consider it as music, more like recordings of getting high. I've listened to pop sooo much because of my sisters that I'm now kinda immune to it. I'm pretty sure you guys don't listen to jazz also. That stuff I didn't put on my list because you guys won't like it. I have alot of classical/jazz stuff on my ipod and I do listen to it when I'm trying to sleep or when I'm really relaxed or sad. Thats why I originally said that I was more diverse in my music tastes. Scott, NEVER invite me to your cabin! Jk, but I literally hate country music more than osama bin laden. Thats how patriotic I am. Godsmack isn't bad Matt, I said there kinda repetitive. THAT DOESN'T MEAN BAD! Everything is repetitive to me the first time I listen to it. I usually say things are repetitive if the verses or chorus of the song is too long. But you showed me a slower song by them which wasn't what I was expecting. Greed is such an awesome song. They have a bunch. I think I've made my point. | |
